Here is another snippet from my 100 Day Devotional.
No man ought to lay a cross upon himself, or to adopt tribulation…but if a cross or tribulation come upon him, then let him suffer it patiently, and know that it is good and profitable for him. -Martin Luther-
The deepest level of worship is praising God in spite of pain, thanking God during a trial, trusting Him when tempted, surrendering while suffering, and loving Him when He seems distant. -Rick Warren-
We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. -Romans 5:3&4-
Today’s prayer: Lord, I want to learn how to accept suffering as a path to purification. I long to suffer well. Give me grace to see my trials as welcome strangers I meet on the road to spiritual growth. Amen. -Stephen Arterburn-
Do I welcome trials? No. But within my darkest and deepest moments of depression and debilitating panic attacks I felt so alone. I cried out, “Lord where are you? Why are you allowing this?” As Mr. Arterburn and others have stated, we are to learn and grow. I pray that those were the hardest trials I will ever have to face, I pray for God’s mercy and grace. But He alone knows what the road ahead will bring and I have to trust that what He allows is molding and changing me for my good and His glory!
