Trust and Obey

So many times I questioned whether I caused the anxiety? Is my faith not strong enough, am I not reading my Bible enough?

If you go back and read through my posts you’ll see that the struggle is very real. During these times of uncertainty, I have to be honest, the anxiety has tried to creep back in. I can thankfully say that no panic attacks have surfaced but at one point they did try. I replaced those thoughts very quickly with truths and replayed those in my mind instead.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. -Romans 12:2-

I came across a podcast called, Theology Gals. This particular podcast was on anxiety, depression and self care. They share a lot of helpful truths, my reason for sharing it. It’s a long listen but most of us have some extra time in our schedules during this isolation season, so no excuses☺️

Since this is my blog and I’m able to share my thoughts and opinions, I’d have to say I don’t agree with their statements of owning “the anxiety.” They call it “my” anxiety. You can change the anxiety to whatever struggle you are faced with and change the “my” to “the.” I firmly believe our words affect what we claim about ourselves. Again I’ve gone into detail on this on some previous posts. Anything that hinders us, is negative, demeaning or totally against how God sees us, does not belong to us. Yes the struggle is real, He’s allowing it to hopefully transforms us, make some heart changes or use us to help others (empathy). Will He gives us complete healing from the struggle? That’s His choice in His time and in His way. We are called to obey, do what changes we can do and trust Him.

I try to keep my faith simple, there is way too much content out there that can cause anxiety in itself. Make us try to figure everything out, as His Word says:

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than the earth, And my thoughts than your thoughts. -Isaiah 55:8&9-

“Trust and obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey!”

This old song takes me back to the flannel board Sunday school classes where I first started to grow in Him. All He asks is we trust and obey, He doesn’t ask that we try to figure Him out, He’s too big and our pea sized brains can’t contain the magnitude of all that He is. Just trust and obey!

Please leave comments with any concerns or thoughts you have, I don’t have all the answers but I can try help.

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. -John 14:27-
