Lay Worry to Rest

I get so frustrated with myself. Time and time again I worry about a particular situation. I play out in my mind all the worst possible scenarios of what could happen. And time and time again the Lord shows up and none of my “what if’s” happen! Have you been there? I am trusting that one day very soon I will have full trust in Him, that He is in total control of every situation. I will continue to renew my mind with all His promises and remind myself of all the faithfulness He has and continues to prove to me over and over again.

Here are some quotes from one of my many mentors. One of the strongest most courageous woman I know, Corrie Ten Boom. She had every right to worry but she fought against it with the Holy Spirits power that flowed through every vein in her body. To learn more about her life story read, The Hiding Place. Here are a few of her quotes I came across this morning:

Worry is a cycle of inefficient thoughts whirling around a centre of fear.

Worry does not empty tomorrow of it’s sorrow it empties today of it’s strength.

Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.

Hold everything in your hands lightly, otherwise it hurts when God pries your fingers open.

You can never learn that Christ is all you need, until Christ is all you have.

There is no pit so deep, that God’s love is not deeper still.

What wings are to a bird, and sails to a ship, so is prayer to the soul.

Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?

Happiness isn’t something that depends on our surroundings, it’s something we make inside ourselves.

Don’t bother to give God instructions; just report for duty.

It’s not my ability, but my response to God’s ability that counts.

There is no panic in Heaven! God has no problems, only plans.

*Let God’s promises shine on your problems*

-Corrie Ten Boom-

I am going to start memorizing at least one of these quotes each week and replace the worry with the quote. Worry is a learned habit, can even be hereditary, you may have as a child heard mom or dad say worries over and over again. Boom, you pick it up without even realizing it.

I do hope you are encouraged by what I share, I am truly speaking to myself when I write these blogs. It is very helpful to journal your thoughts, feelings and struggles. Worry is a huge one for me, always I’m telling myself quit it, you know your only hurting yourself! I do believe a lot of our health issues today are due to worry or stressing. So join me in this new challenge, hold on to a quote, memorize it and replace the worry. Lay the worry to rest one day at a time!

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about it’s own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” -Matthew 6:34
