Be On Guard

Earlier this week we had a episode that took me back to 7 years ago. A moment in time that changed my life forever. If you read back a few posts you will learn about a dear friend, Stan, who died in front of our eyes. He went home to be with Jesus.

Well we were in the same situation again just this pass Wednesday. We were loading out some cattle off pasture and this older trucker decided he’s going to play cowboy. This one heifer had to get sorted out, the trucker decides he’s going to steer wrestle her out of the pen. My husband told him to stay back that she may not be trustable. The trucker didn’t listen and the heifer didn’t care for what he was trying to do. She stomped all over him and he laid bleeding from the nose and mouth knocked completely out. My heart started racing, I prayed Lord please no, not again!

Well thank goodness he was okay, his pride a bit hurt with some war wounds on his face.

But some anxiety tried to creep back in, I allowed those emotions/feelings to enter in and take up space in my mind. I replayed events of 7 years ago and the spirit of fear tried to take a hold again. Needless to say, the last few days I have been more irritable and filled with wacky dreams at night. I had to physically, emotionally and mentally close that door and shut it tightly so that a foothold could NOT enter.

Ephesians 4:20-30….and don’t give the devil an opportunity….

These verses talk about speaking truth and knowing who we are in Christ. That we are sealed by the Holy Spirit that nothing can touch us without His allowing it. This of course is a promise to those that belong to Him, those that have surrendered their life to Jesus Christ.

Watch for your triggers, sometimes they are beyond your control but God sometimes allows events to happen to see where our trust is. Are we trusting in Him that He is in complete control or are we running blindly trying to figure out our emotions and feelings. Anxiety/fear does not belong in a Christian’s life, that is not part of God’s plan. Do I struggle with it, absolutely, almost every day! But I am so thankful I can go and cling to His Word that is full of His promises of truth for my life!

Psalm 28:7-The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.

2 Timothy 1:7-For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

1 Peter 5:7-Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.
